The Tech Director is a new position made for the 2010-11 year. Tech Director replaces the Engineering Commander position as it has the same duties, although it has less power. The Tech Director's duties will be to design and aid in the building of Beta systems.

Engineering Commander

The Engineering Commander was a new position created for the 2009-10 year for Matthew Farkas-Dyck. The position was remarkably similar to the pre-2004 position of Tech Director, and the Engineering Commander was responsible for the creation and maintenance of alpha Habitat systems and their beta counterparts.

When questioned as to what his most frequent duties as Engineering Commander, Matthew Farkas-Dyck responded "I build and repair things, mostly."

The position Engineering Commander was modified by the 2010 Proposal to Change the Hierarchy, transferring its authority and mandate to the position of Tech Director. Barring any further resurgeance of this position, this reclassification will mean that Matthew Farkas-Dyck is the only Engineering Commander in Spacesim history.
