Terraforming was a module proposed to be added to the Habitat in time for the 2009-10 mission to Europa. It would allow the Astronauts to leave a drill on a planet or moon to drill through the crust and learn more about the general interior makeup of a planet or moon. This module would be dropped off on a destination and would be left unattended until the end of the mission when it would be picked up and the data pooled over.

During Mission Daedalus, the terraforming equipment was to be dropped off on Ganymede on the first day. However, due to the mission starting late and a "malfunction" (the simulators forgot to remove the equipment) the equipment was instead dropped off on the last day of the mission, while the Habitat was flying back to Earth.
