Training Requirements (procedures)
0.5 Station Training Protocols
0.5.1 Station Training
Station Training refers to the basic training that members must receive on specific mission tasks in order to be qualified to perform their duties during a mission.
0.5.2 Stations
There are nine stations that a member can train in. These are:
- AUXCOM
- CAPCOM
- COMMAND
- EECOM
- ENG
- LOGS
- MEDICAL
- NETWORK
- PILOT
There are group-specific variants for each station with regard to Mission Control, Astronauts, and Simulators with the exception of NETWORK.
0.5.3 Ratings
Each member will have a rating on each station, which indicates their relative level of training and competence on that station. The ratings are:
Not Complete | This member has not accomplished any significant strides in mastering this station. |
In Progress | This member understands the basics of this station. They are working towards a rating of Complete on this station. |
Complete | This member has mastered this station. They are qualified to man it during a Main Mission. |
Instructor | This member has demonstrated expertise surpassing mastery on this station. They are qualified to instruct others in its function, and certify them to the rating of "Complete." |
0.5.4 Documentation
Each member will have their own training summary card, housed on the wiki. It will display their certifications on their member page.
Members are required to display this documentation to the Mission Control Commander when applying for astronaut or mission control duties.
0.5.5 Certification Requirements
In order to be certified to a particular rating, members must be able to demonstrate all of the abilities itemized in the appropriate list of certification requirements. These requirements stack, so that members trying for their Complete Rating, must also be able to demonstrate the In Progress Rating skills.
Members are certified to In Progress Rating or Complete Rating by their instructor. The instructor is then responsible for having their student's documentation updated on the wiki. Instructors are required to document all students they have certified.
Members are certified to the Instructor Rating by the Mission Commander, if the Mission Commander has rating of Complete or higher on that station. Otherwise, the Admiral may certify members to the Instructor Rating.
0.5.6 Changes to Certification Requirements
Changes to the certification requirements are made as a petition to the Mission Commander.
If the Mission Commander changes the certification requirements, the previous requirements should be preserved, and an amendment appended to the appropriate section. The Mission Commander must then re-certify all Instructors for that station within two weeks of the changes. The Instructors must re-certify all of their students who are still current members within two weeks of being re-certified themselves.
If a member is not re-certified, their rating will be downgraded to In Progress, with a note made of their previous rating.
0.5.7 Instructors
Assignment
Members are generally responsible for locating their own instructor for each station. However, they can also ask the Mission Commander to petition instructors on their behalf.
Number
There is no maximum number of instructors for any particular station.
The Mission Commander is responsible for ensuring that there is at least one instructor for each station each year. If, at the end of the year, graduation or other factors would cause there to be fewer than one instructor for each station, the Mission Commander must return in the following year to certify sufficient instructors. If the Mission Commander is unable to fulfill this obligation, the Admiral must promote a member to Instructor Rating.
