'''Item #: '''SCP-W027

'''Object Class: '''Safe

'''Special Containment Procedures: ''' SCP-W027 is to be contained under partial vacuum in its one and a half (1.5) liter glass jar at all times, and stored in either the simulator loft or in the domestic refrigerator installed in the habitat. The vacuum of the jar is to be tested once per four (4) weeks using the safety button integrated into the lid. The jar is to remain sealed at all times. Any breaches of this vacuum seal should be reported immediately to Dr. ██████████.

'''Description:'''
SCP-W027 is a Furby-brand simulated toy pet which has been broken into pieces and pickled. It is enclosed in a one and a half (1.5) liter Farm Boy-brand Polish Dill Pickles jar, from which the original pickled cucumbers appear to have been removed. The remaining contents of the jar (listed by the label as water, vinegar, dill, sugar, garlic seeds, mustard, horseradish, allspice, bay leaf, black pepper, and salt, in order of decreasing quantity) remain. The jar appears to be sealed and under partial vacuum, as the safety button on the lid is permanently depressed. The jar is marked with a Best Before date of ██.██.20██, and has the Universal Product Code (UPC) ████████████. On the label of the jar, the word "Pickles" in "Polish Dill Pickles" has been crossed out, and the word "Furby" written next to it using permanent marker. The label is otherwise unmodified. The Furby toy inside the jar, while not entirely visible, appears to have been almost entirely disassembled, and some parts are visibly cracked, torn, or otherwise damaged.

'''Addendum - Acquisition of SCP-W027''':
SCP-W027 was created by an anonymous OCESS member during the 2019 "Secret Satan" gift exchange, and was given as a gift to member Ethan ████████, in response to the requested gift, "pickled furby". Mr. ████████ has stated to facilty personnel that the request was made "because [he] couldn't think of anything else". This anonymous member has since been revealed to be Stella ███████. The exchange was coordinated using the ███████ gift exchange planning software, which was used to anonymously send the following message to the gift's recipient.

<nowiki>I am sickened by the mere thought of what I am going to create. The request
alone has given me extreme, unimaginable emotions, and I fear what will happen
to me as time goes on. They will start a mere peasant, a mere scrap, but they
will finish more powerful than I could imagine. The power of an old god
awakened, too strong for my frail mortal hands to hold, too intense for my frail
mortal brain to comprehend. I can only hope that you fear the gift as much as I
fear the mere request.
drink the furby pickle juice
happy holidays</nowiki>

'''Addendum - Relocation''':
Due to classification of SCP-W027 as a "food item" by Foundation management, it has been relocated to an off-site facility, where it will be securely stored in a mound of once-Kraft-Dinner-filled-bowls and broken computer hardware.

The Toaster Fire disaster was a simulated disaster on the [[Silver Seas 2018]] mission, in which the habitat toaster caused a fire, releasing toxic fumes in the interlock, and destroying the habitat's only roll of paper towel. A video clip of the interlock was captured, and edited to include a large orange flame coming from within the toaster. [[RAVEN]] was used to replace the interlock camera with this clip, while simulators entered the room and replaced the roll of paper towels sitting on the counter, near the toaster, with a pile of fake ash (made from paper, painted black and ripped up. EECOM was used to simulate the release of a chemical contaminant. The disaster was planned and executed by [[Ethan]] and [[Jamie Tait-Glossop]] during a night shift, at approximately 2:30 AM. Simulators, at the time of the disaster, were not aware that the roll of paper towels they planned to take was, in fact, the only roll in the habitat.

== Response ==
After the disaster, astronauts were unable to clean their dishes, and resorted to simply leaving dirty dishes in the interlock sink. After the mission, Ethan and Jamie received backlash from astronauts in response to the disaster, and it has since been used as an example of a poorly-planned disaster resulting in unintended alpha-reality consequences.

Dr. Magwood criticized the disaster for its poor planning, but noted that he liked the use of RAVEN for fire simulation and saw the disaster as successful in that regard.

'''Silver Seas 2018''' was the [[OCESS|Spacesim]] [[Mission]] for the [[2017-18]] school year. It visited the moons of Saturn, primarily Enceladus and Mimas. It saw revived use of the [[Laura]] system and very extensive mass spectrometer analysis.

==Astronauts==
* [[Liam Gaudet]] ([[Habitat Commander]])
* Nathan Schmidt ([[Habitat Sub-Commander]])
* [[Ivan Fonseca]]
* [[Iris Dimock]]
* [[Benjamin Seguin]]
* [[Simon Cavanagh]]

==Mission Purpose==
The missions's scientific aims were to perform EVAs on Enceladus and Mimas so as to survey the surfaces of these moons, retrieve samples for detailed elemental and molecular composition analysis, take pictures of the surfaces, and attempt to establish a more detailed topographical map of these bodies from close orbit. On Enceladus, the crew drilled for samples (and radiation protection), the Laura submersible system was deployed to probe the structure and composition of water geysers, to place seismometers which could subsequently transmit valuable geological data back to Earth for analysis there.

==In-Beta Mission Results==
Mass spectrometer results are still being analysed, but they were sampled to better understand the origins and compositions of the moons. One hypothesis of particular interest was that Mimas and Enceladus originated from different systems before both being captured by Saturn's orbit. The analysis therefore included the calculation of isotopic percentages of different elements in the soil of Saturn's moons to try to detect systematic differences.

==Alpha System Developments==
This mission saw the pioneering use of [[Ethan]]'s [[RAVEN]] system. One application of this tool to create a truly novel disaster was to record footage of the [[Interlock]], edit in an animation of flames coming out of the toaster, and then play that feed back to the astronauts.

There was some restructuring of the [[planetary surface]] for this mission, but the overall framework from the preceding few years was largely retained.

The [[2011-12 Blame List|incredibly annoying hardwired-on master light]] was broken shortly before the mission. This massive advance in alpha systems was widely celebrated.

RAVEN (the Realtime AudioVisual/Analog Video ENgine) is a custom-built workstation computer, designed and built by [[Ethan]]. It is used by simulators to make realtime modifications to video feeds from the camera system installed in W027 and the Hawking III.

== History ==
RAVEN is loosely based on a plan devised during the Blue Dawn 2017 mission to construct a "Video Generator" system. Though the original plan specified a standard PC running OPOS1 and capable of outputting one video signal, a system which would have required simulator involvement using the video switch and temporary locking of habitat video switches, the plan for a more advanced, scalable system was devised in response to plans for the 2017 Halloween Mission. Though the 2016 Halloween mission made limited use of NETSPRAWL, the 2017 Halloween mission was planned to control multiple video feeds simultaneously and seamlessly, prompting the development of RAVEN. The system was assembled and tested at Ethan's house and delivered to 440 on the day of the mission.

== Technical Specifications ==
While some techncial details of the RAVEN system are kept secret in the interests of preserving mission integrity, its basic architecture consists of a scalable array of video output devices, known as Generator Nodes (GNs) connected to an internal network, as well as a Kronos-powered Management Node, which provides realtime monitoring and control functionality for the system's operator, and can take the form of an internal component or a laptop connected via an Ethernet cable. The system is also capable of scaling to multiple chassis if properly configured. The system can also be expanded using a hard drive. Realtime processing of video is possible using the optional DIP (Digital Inline Processing) expansion, which can be installed on any GN (typically GN1) and allows any camera feed to be digitized, processed, and output over the standard GN output.

== Development Codenames ==
RAVEN had numerous codenames throughout its development as well as after, both tongue-in-cheek and serious. Operators are encouraged to come up with more and add them below.
* ACE - the Advanced Camera Editor
* "The Ministry of Truth" - A reference to George Orwell's ''Nineteen-Eighty-Four''. Refers to the system's capability to falsify or disable video feeds.
* "The Fazbear Machine" - in reference to the system's conceptual similarity to the security-camera focused gameplay of the Five Nights at Freddy's series of video games, set at a fictional restaurant named "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza".

The 2016 Halloween Mini-Mission was a specialized thematic mini-mission which occurred on November 4th, 2016. It was orchestrated primarily by [[Ethan]] and Callum Wheaton. It was rare in that it included planned breaches of mission integrity and direct interaction between simulators and astronauts.

== Lore ==
The mission lore was a continuation of the lore of the [Red Horizon 2016] mission. In the lore, a team of OCESS astronauts returned to Mars to collect methane samples after the previous mission was a failure. While still descending to the surface, their [[EECOM]] systems and those in mission control began to display cryptic messages. Immediately after landing, loud thumping was heard from the roof and walls of the [[Hawking III]] and the craft was boarded by the zombified crew of the Mars One mission.

== Simulation ==
After the hab had been sealed and the mission control was in place, a Mars orbit savefile was loaded and the mission began. As mission control began the descent to Mars, [[Serban Popovici]] and Callum Wheaton modified a textfile stored on the Design40 server, replacing the standard "All systems nominal" message with numerous messages such as "We will find warmth" and "M1M1M1M1M1M1M1". Mission control soon determined that this was in reference to the Mars 1 mission. While this was happening, [[Ethan]] climbed onto the roof of the habitat and waited for the craft to land. Once it had, a plastic arm was lowered through an access hole above the interlock and loud banging noises were made. This is thought to be when the astronauts barricaded themselves in CNC. Ethan then returned to the simloft, and he and Callum donned full EVA suits along with the pictured masks. They entered the habitat via the martian surface and banged on doors, slowlu progressing through the airlock, interlock, and engineering closet before attempting to enter the barricaded CNC room via the access window. The mission was stopped, and all involved began regular Friday work.

{{lore}}
==Abstract==
The Boogie Mission was a mini mission which took place in the late evening (roughly 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM) on October 11th, 2019. It is notable for its use of rapidfire major disasters, its use of AUXCOM as opposed to the typical CAPCOM, and for the playing of extremely loud music over the habitat speakers throughout most of the duration of the mission.

==Crew==
CAPCOM: [[Jamie Tait-Glossop]]

Flight: [[Blakely Haughton]]

Engineering: [[Cesare Corazza]]

EECOM: [[Tavian Hamer-Wilson]]

Murray: [[Murray Renaud]]

==Incidents==
From the beginning of the mission, CAPCOM functionalities were completely unusable due to a broken microphone in the Habitat. AUXCOM was instead used for Hab-MC communication, while MC-Hab remained verbal. This worked for a while, until CAPCOM broke entirely, and the Astronauts were forced to use pencil and paper signs held up to the security cameras.

This minimission was the first one led by Simulator [[Owen Matthews]], a member infamous for his sadistic approach to running disasters, as well as his uncommon prowess at Sim Engineering. As such, the minimission was riddled with never-before-seen disasters, few of which were truly resolved. By the end of the minimission, the only reason the crew was still alive was the fact that Owen wanted to keep them that way.

[[Ethan]] also used this minimission to test the Habitat speaker system. He would often play [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri7-vnrJD3k leitmotif]-style music that he thought would fit the situation, which often resulted in crew being [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um4OQ6KP1m4 annoyed] and [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Iz0WWkd-WQ discouraged] by the (often [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfc42Pb5RA8 loud]) songs.

Blakely decided to test the attention of Mission Control by changing his flight path to point towards the sun, instead of the moon (the intended destination). He then asked MC if he was on the correct path, to which they replied 'yes'. This continued until he performed a proper landing on the sun, as the sun is treated similarly to the planets in the Flight software. His request to perform an EVA was cleared, after which he revealed the situation to Mission Control.

Many issues in the EECOM software went unnoticed by the crew, up to and including complete organ failure of the entire crew, due to the EECOM officer being otherwise occupied. Two crew members spent the majority of the minimission French kissing in front of the EECOM computer, meaning that all errors went unnoticed.

==Results==
This minimission was a wake-up call for OCESS, indicating that professionalism, training and focus were major issues. A lengthy discussion was held shortly thereafter, where it was decided that training would be further prioritized and minimissions would be rescheduled accordingly.

[[Image:Kelpernicus.png|right|frame|Kelpernicus, the current storage module.]]The '''storage modules''' at Spacesim are storage rooms where the members of Sim store materials needed for maintenance, constructions and EEPs. This includes screws and drill bits, tools, extra monitors, bins of cables, rocks for planetary surfaces, tarps and old files. Copernicus previously used the [[Jeffery-decimal]] system, but it has fallen out of use since the departure of [[Jeff Gao]]. This, combined with the move to the new room, resulted in the complete disarray of Keplernicus. It is unknown whether current [[Quartermaster]] [[Olivia Frank]] has any organizational plans for the storage module.

In mid 2017, Keplernicus briefly housed a small office area known as the Keplernoffice, primarily used by Ethan and Serban Popovici. This area's contents have since been shifted to [[RD1]].
==Module Lore==

As Spacesim moved across the city, the number of storage modules has increased and decreased as the facilities changed. There has been a tradition of naming the modules after notable astronomers.

In the old facilities at [[Ottawa Tech]], there were two storage modules: Copernicus and Kepler.
At the [[Media Centre|Bronson Street Media Centre]], there was only a single storage room, which was known as ''Keplernicus''. This name is now used for the [[current]] module, in Spacesim's [[New Facilities]], also at Ottawa Tech.

A strange being known as the [[Copernicus Moogle]] is reported to inhabit its eponymous module.

During the first Mission Daedalus (not [[Daedalus]]), a mouse was captured in Kepler, and promptly declared to be the first captured [[Hab Gnome]].

A '''bowling pin''' is an object associated with the game of bowling. For [[Spacesim]] purposes, the shape of a bowling pin is sometimes useful for describing objects in space that are not perfect geometrical solids.

==Shape==
Imagine a cylinder with radius r and height h. From one end, the radius decreases slowly until the cross-sectional area of the cylinder reaches a minimum at about 2/3 h. Then the radius increases slowly and decreases again, producing a bulbous end on the shape.

==Using the Shape==
Using descriptions such as "Bowling Pin Shaped" is not exact in any sense of the word. However, it does give the reader a general idea of the appearance of the object. To give some scale, provide the radius '''r''' and height '''h''', as if the bowling pin were a cylinder.

==Example==
The Bowling Pin shape is used to describe comet [[Borrelly]].

==The Bowling Pin Argument==
An argument over the inclusion of an image of a bowling-pin shaped individual in this page was had on May 31st, 2020. See also: [[Bowling Pin Argument]]

The vacuum of the jar is to be tested once per four (4) weeks using the safety button integrated into the lid. The jar is to remain sealed at all times. Any breaches of this vacuum seal should be reported immediately to Dr. ██████.

SCP-W027 was created by an anonymous OCESS member during the 2019 "Secret Satan" gift exchange, and was given as a gift to member Ethan ██████, in response to the requested gift, "pickled furby". Mr. ██████ has stated to facilty personnel that the request was made "because [he] couldn't think of anything else".

Due to classification of SCP-W027 as a "food item" by Foundation management, it has been relocated to an off-site facility, where it will be securely stored in a mound of once-Kraft-Dinner-filled-bowls and broken computer hardware.

The disaster was planned and executed by [[Ethan Boicey]] and [[Jamie Tait-Glossop]] during a night shift, at approximately 2:30 AM. Simulators, at the time of the disaster, were not aware that the roll of paper towels they planned to take was, in fact, the only roll in the habitat.

== Response ==

== Response ==

In mid 2017, Keplernicus briefly housed a small office area known as the Keplernoffice, primarily used by Ethan Boicey and Serban Popovici. This area's contents have since been shifted to [[RD1]].
==Module Lore==

Eboicey: /* History */ fix: the revenge

RAVEN (the Realtime AudioVisual/Analog Video ENgine) is a custom-built workstation computer, designed and built by [[Ethan Boicey]]. It is used by simulators to make realtime modifications to video feeds from the camera system installed in W027 and the Hawking III.

== History ==

== Technical Specifications ==

== Development Codenames ==
